Mit vier herausragenden Siegen steht Elena Quirici zum vierten Mal in diesem Jahr in einem grossen Finale. Und dies bei der Olympia Generalprobe im Tokyo Budokan.
Sie schlug der Reihe nach mit 1:0 Debatty Luana (Belgien), 3:2 Wold Sherilyn (USA), 3:2 Vizcaino Gonzalez Cristina (Spanien) und setzte sich im Halbfinale gegen Melnyik Halyna (0:0, Ukraine) mit Schiedsrichterentscheid durch.
Im Finale trifft Quirici auf die Weltmeisterin von 2014, Alizee Agier (Frankreich). Die Französin gewann dieses Jahr die Karate-1 Premier League Turniere von Paris und Dubai. Sie trifft auf eine Schweizerin, die 2018 keines ihrer Finale verloren hat. So am Karate-1 Premier League in Istanbul und die beiden EM-Titelkämpfe (Team, -68 kg) in Novi Sad.
Mit dem Finaleinzug werden beide Athletinnen im Olympia-Ranking weit nach vorne rücken.
Kommentar WKF: Both Elena Quirici of Switzerland and Alizee Agier of France managed to complete a remarkable season by claiming the ticket to the final in Female Kumite -68kg. The Swiss star had previously taken two gold medals including the European title and claimed one of the spots in the final after edging Ukraine’s Halyna Melnyk by ‘Hantei’ or decision.
Meanwhile, Alizee Agier achieved her qualification to her third final this year after her victories in Dubai and Paris. The French star defeated Italy’s Silvia Semeraro in semi-finals by 1-0.
The last day of the event will be broadcast to a number of TV Networks around the world and will be streamed LIVE on WKF’s online platform, karateworld.tv.
